    Hello all,

I am having problems with an F&P DD603 – this is the double drawer model without the LCD, I’ll put my questions first and then the saga for anyone good enough to read on. Sorry – its a long one. For anyone else having F&P problems I have found all the below links useful but no solutions:

What I’d like to know is:
    – I’ve manged to remove the drawers from the runners and inspect inside but is it actually possible to unplug the variuous cables and completely remove the drawers?
    – Despite several references to it, I can’t see the following: ” a tech sheet containing all fault codes, test values, and a schematic is located behind the lower drawer at the back wall”. Any clues?
    – Various sites describe how to get into diagnostics mode and then use two-letter acronyms to describe various functions (P2 – drain pump, LD – lid motors etc). How do I know what mode I am in with a non-LCD model? Where is this documented? Have looked in vain in User Guide and both install PDFs.

Saga: One day the top-drawer started emitting a horrible scratching noise when running. I stripped it all down and removed a piece of glass from inside the drawer (but not under the filter plate or near the impellor). Replaced everything – same noise. Swapped impellor units top to bottom – same noise. We just abandoned the top drawer until we had enough spare money to get it serviced… That was about 6 months ago.

The other day, the bottom drawer started leaking onto the floor and making a similar horrible noise. The missus stopped it. I bailed it out, cleaned & reassembled – no real debris found – and ran again – same noise and leakage. Weirdly, the top drawer started running itself again at this point despite being switched off. Terrible racket so I switched the whole lot off at the mains. I now realise one of the drawers was producing an error code beep but I didn’t note it because I hadn’t done any research at that point and thought it had just gone haywire.

Next day, cleaned and reassembled bottom drawer again, this time swapping impellors from top to bottom. The bottom drawer will now run a full rinse cycle and makes no ugly noise – but it won’t drain. I have bailed it out as shallow as possible – below the spray arm, as advised by one of the links above. After several runs, it just won’t drain. No error code, no beeping, sounds just like it used to. Top drawer has stopped running itself.

Any suggestions as to what can I try now? A lot of people seem to recommend removing a panel at the back of the bottom drawer and drying interior out with a hairdryer – could this fix a draining problem?

Last question: can anyone recommend a good F&P fixer near Edinburgh if I can’t resolve this..?

    Many thanks,
    cam

    Hi

I’ve manged to remove the drawers from the runners and inspect inside but is it actually possible to unplug the variuous cables and completely remove the drawers?

it is possible but not usually necessary and the first one can be tricky.

How do I know what mode I am in with a non-LCD model? Where is this documented? Have looked in vain in User Guide and both install PDFs.

when in diagnostics the red lights above the program symbols light up to the corresponding component.

    Display LED LED LED LED
    ——————————————————————————————-
bL Off Off Off On Backlight
Er Off Off On Off Element Relay
Ld Off Off On On Lid Motors (will run for 10 seconds)
dd Off On Off Off Detergent Diverter Valve
FU Off On Off On Fill Water Valve
P1 Off On On Off Motor Wash direction (2300-2850 rpm)
P2 Off On On On Motor Drain direction (5000 rpm)
rd On Off Off Off Rinse Aid Dispenser (dispenses current setting)
dF On Off Off On Drying fan
LE On Off On Off Rinse Aid LED
C1 On Off On On Water Softener Diverter Valve
C2 On On Off Off Water Softener Brine Pump

Any suggestions as to what can I try now? A lot of people seem to recommend removing a panel at the back of the bottom drawer and drying interior out with a hairdryer – could this fix a draining problem?

No but does (sometimes) cure a F1 fault (flood switch activated)

With regards to the noise it is usually caused by glass damaging the rotor motor and motor housing, sometimes one or both need to be changed.
The bottom drawer not draining most likely is a blockage in the tube between the filter and rotor motor.
good luck and if you do find someone nearby make sure they know the machines well.
    John
