    Hi

I am having similar trouble to that reported by other users. Machine attempts to fill and stops then fills a bit more then stops. This happened once before and I find some reference to resetting the machine in a more updated manual then mine,on the web. I haven’t been able to get this reference again but came across this web site. How do I go about diagnosing problem please and resolving it.

    Thanks

Turn machine OFF on the front panel. Hold down the Water Temp Down button and press the POWER button. Release buttons. You are in Diagnostic mode. Press advance once, press the spin speed up button until the hold and slow are lit. Write down the LEDS which are lit across the top row of progress LEDS. and post back.

    Hi

i did try a number of times your suggestion based on reading other responses and am not sure if this is correct.

    First time 00101011
Another time 10110111 (last digit flashing)

    Another time

10110110 followed after a number of seconds by
1011 0101 (last two digits changing)

I came back today and tried again and got

    00000000

and the machine seems to be working ok again?? Is this the diagnositic code to say nothingis wrong?

    Thanks

The code you had was 43 Balance Switch was closed
Check the drum position inside the machine
Go up one more light on the spin and you can check the balance and lid swich.

Hi how can I make 43 from the lights 00101011?

    Binary code right to left – 1+2+8+32 = 43.

    Re: Fisher & Paykel GW709au

I’ve had most of the problems below with my GW709au but last week I the machine stopped altogether. I’ve unpluged it from that wall and pluged it back in I’ve tested the GPO etc but still no luck. Is this a common problem? Has any one had this happen before. The washing mechine will not do anything at all when it is tured on at the wall, no lights no beeps. Is there any advice any one can give apart from not buying another F&P appliance.

Check pump and associated wiring. If out of circuit the machine will not power up.

Be aware that there is a permanent live feed to the pump as long as the machine is plugged in, so cut the power first.

    Re: Fisher & Paykel GW709au

Thanks but I couldn’t find any power at the water pump or at the terminals on the PCB. Anything else I should have a look at?

    Re: Fisher & Paykel GW709au

Power is one thing – have you checked for continuity through the pump circuit and wiring? If all ok, you’re probably looking at a motor board problem. Due to the expense involved it might be time for some pro help?

Yep I have a circuit through the pump motor all the circuit boards look good but still no luck. I think I’m at the stage to make a decision and either replace the mechine and cut my losses or get in a pro. Thanks for your help.

    Re: Fisher & Paykel GW709au

Thanks for such a useful site! By looking at the entries here I worked out I had an intermittent code 43. Anyone with this problem is well advised to take out the grey controller module and check the condition of the OOB microswitch underneath. Mine was heavily corroded – no doubt due to a leaking solenoid problem I had about a year ago which flooded and killed the controller. Replacing the switch fixed the problem and the good news is that you can fit a generic SPDT microswitch (eg DSE cat #P7800) with minor mods that sells for about A$4.00 (ie:~ 1/10th the price quoted by my local F&P agent for a “genuine” switch).

    Re: Fisher & Paykel GW709au

    Similar problem with GW509NZ.
I tired the diagnostics test and got
    10100101, which is 165
    I haven’t got a manual for it.
The symptoms are short water bursts, then stops. I tried testing the pump and the valves which seem to be working fine. Found out how to do it thanks to this forum. After about 5 mins of playing with on/off switch is restarts. But otherwise even if I leave it unplugged for a minute and come back to it, it automatically starts beeping and blocks the keys. That’s why I have to be horrble to it just to get it to restart.
It was working fine until recently.
Has it’s time come or is there a chance that it can be still be saved?

Thanks to this forum and all of it’s contributors.
    Nick

    Re: Fisher & Paykel GW709au

    Hi Nick,
You sure you’ve got that right? 165 is not a valid code………..

Valves cutting in and out can be due to motor position sensor problems, dodgy “out of balance” switches and lid switches.

If the code is correct, there must be an anomaly in the computer circuits somewhere, therefore the board is at fault.

    Check again and advise,
    Cheers,
    Penguin45.
