ParticipantHi,
My F&P intuitive Eco IW811 washer has ben complaining “not getting any hot water” so we need to set it to cold water washing. occasionaly it also reports fault code 136 before the spin cycle.
i tried swapping the hot and cold water valves and it worked perfectly. So i assumed the problem was the hot water valve. i bought a new hot water valve and the first load worked fine, but now i have the same problem again. ie. Not getting hot water and occassionally fault 136. Any suggestions on what may be causing this?
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Fault code 136 IS Motor Stall Fault
The Motor Controller has been unable to start the motor. Possible causes of this fault are
Faulty motor harness, faulty or jammed motor, seized bearings or seals,
Motor Controller (PCB), Rotor Position Sensor or harness
Check if bowl & agiatator Move Freely
From Past experience it can be generally the RPS Sensor or Motor controllerAugust 25, 2008 at 7:56 am #260512fkar

Thanks for your response. The bowl and agitator do move freely.
I dont think its an actual motor problem, because the 136 fault is only intermittent. When the fault does occur, I can stop the cycle and then manually set the spin cycle. The machine then spins and the fault clears.
The “not getting hot water” problem always seems to occur. Could both these problems be related to a faulty main controller? Is there a diagnostic test I can run to test?
Thanks

Hi,
Further to this, I “think” I have worked out how to test the hot and cold water in diagnostic mode. When testing the cold water, the solenoid has 18.7V across its terminals and water comes out. When testing the hot water, I am only seeing 13.6V across the solenoid terminals and no water.
Any ideas? If not, the wife is going to make me get her a new machine 🙁
Thanks

Hot & Cold Valve are 24V DC Coils 64 ohm
If not Getting 24 V to Coils Usually suspect Motor controllerAugust 26, 2008 at 10:08 am #260515fkar

Hi Bigsmokepiker,
Thank you kindly for your responses. Looks like I might have to try replacing the controller. Before I do though, are there any other checks you think I can do? I’ve had a look at the controller PCB and it looks very clean with no evident damage on it. Is there any likelyhood that something external to the controller is causing it to fail, therefore even if I replace the controller I’ll still have the same problem?
Thanks,

Divertor valve (Sits near pump ) can be a pest We tend to replace divertor valve when doing a motor controller It tends to cause less heartache down the track

Hmmmmmmm, now I’m really confused. i went to purchase a new controller today. The place i went to repairs controllers and also sells reconditioned ones. The guy kindly offered to test my controller first. He then advised that there is nothing wrong with my controller. He also told me to ignore the fact that I’m not reading 24V on the inlet valves because it is a pulsating voltage and cannot be measured accurately.
So i still have a problem where my machine will not take in hot water. A new hot water valve worked on the first wash, but now i’m back to getting a warning message “Not getting any hot water”. I have never received a 49 or 50 fault code though.
This is really starting to do my head in !!!
Any chance that bad thermistor could be the culprit? I assume that if the thermistor was bad, the machine would think it is getting hot water and therefore not give a warning message.

Testing The Hot water valve
Press &hold Lifestyle button then power button It will give 2 short beeps
release buttons
Press how dirty up button to test hot valve down button to test coldSeptember 3, 2008 at 12:42 pm #260519fkar

Hi,
Yes I tried testing the valves using the diagnostic tools. Confirmed that cold water flows but no hot water. Interestingly though, when I swap the valves around (ie. use the digital hot valve on the cold connection and the proportional cold valve on the hot connection) then I am able to get both hot and cold water.
So is it safe to leave it that way? Or will I cause some other problem if I continue to use the digital valve for cold and the proportional valve for hot?
Thanks?

No – hot and cold for wash, cold only for rinse.
