ParticipantHi,
My Fisher Paykel MW051-U Smartdrive Won’t fill or empty…the inlet solenoids just ‘pulse’ a few times as if trying to go before the machine begins beeping.
When moving the machineout from the wall, I could feel that there was a little water left in it from the last wash. I removed the drain hose, checked it was clear and that the pump fan rotated freely. I emptied a bucket of water into it, advanced the cycle to ‘spin’ to check the pump function. The pump fan moved a little, like, pulsed the same as the inlet solenoids had, but it would not pump.
I performed the diagnosting procedure for the is model as described on this forum, and I get a binary fault code of 01000001 when read from right to left.
Any ideas?February 19, 2006 at 12:19 am #166148Penguin45

I think you’ll find that this is a problem with the Rotor Position Sensor. The sensor and the wiring can fail, worst case is the Motor Control board failing. There is an 051 further down this forum with the identical problem.

Hullo again,
I bought and fitted a new rotor position sensor. The machine will now let the water flow in for a little longer, but still closes and opens the tap solenoids a few times before emitting a beep and stopping altogether. It now has a new fault code. reading from right to left, it’s: 00000100.
Any help greatly appreciated.April 17, 2006 at 11:47 pm #166151Penguin45

That’s an awkward one…… It’s a comms error – the motor board and the display board are not talking to each other correctly.
You can try cutting power at the socket – may reset, also condition of connecting cables and edge connection.
If no joy, either board may be at fault, the motor controller being the more likely candidate. F+P’s solution is substitution until it works…….

Thanks Penguin.
I’m wondering if I have reconnected the rotor wires incorrectly. The position of the wires to the sensor plug must be okay because they are fitted to the plug. What is the order for the other 3 wires going to the rotor? The red wire’s position is marked on the machine. Is it the blue or the yellow wire that plugs in next to the red?

Looking at it with the Rotor Position Sensor to the right of the motor terminals, wiring should go Red, Blue, Yellow, from the left.
