    Hi,

I’m wondering whether anyone has experienced a F&P SmartDrive 601 locking up mid cycle, and the only way to unlock it is to switch the power off at the mains supply (at the wall), wait 5 seconds and then back on.

The machine seems to lock up at any point (during wash, rinse or spin) and on any type of cycle (hot/cold, or different water levels). There appears to be no common theme as to why it locks up.

If I had to guess, I’d suspect that there is a comms error somewhere on the main board, however, a close inspection of the board reveals no signs of stress (eg, hot points, dry joints or cracked tracks).

Because it totally locks, I haven’t been able to enter diagnostic mode (Water Temp Down & Power On), and once it’s been reset with power down, it’s too late to get a diagnostic.

Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks. ❓

Tricky one – no easy answer. Do the obvious first – lid and out of balance switches can cause all sorts of weird problems and are well documented through the forum. Connecting cables between display and motor boards can play up and the terminal area can suffer oxidisation, leading to poor contacts. Dry joint on the motor board would be my personal favourite – check area around power supply especially.

    Power off, if going in.
