This is getting awfully complicated…… Multiple flashing lights on the wash panel indicate a power supply failure to the main board, BUT flashing spin light is for out of balance load………… which is switched by the pendulum sensor which you have replaced. 🙄 The parts list illustrates no separate power supply or transformer, so this must be integral with one of the boards. If you’re lucky, this may be a dry joint on a board, a visual inspection may spot it. Otherwise, we’re coming back to the same old chestnut – board failure.
This is very frustrating in one sense. Over here we have s@d all tech info for most appliances, but plenty of “hands on” experience – these ones, I’ve got the tech info, but very little experience!
There was a guy posting on the site a year back who was reconning these boards in OZ, but he never became a member, so we have no way of contacting him. Googling down under might find him? Let us know if you do!

ParticipantI had the machine do a wash by pushing buttons in various sequences but couldn’t do it again. This made me feel there must not be too much wrong so I rang Fisher & Paykel. They wouldn’t send me the tech sheet.
I called the repair man back. He replaced both the control board and the display board. He used reconditioned boards for both. This cost me more than half the cost of a new machine.
Cheers

Glad you got there Pwhit – did you actually get him to identify the specific fault? Or did he throw parts at it until it did? We have company engineers over here who do that, which doesn’t help the trade learn anything 🙄
You might like to post the source of the re-con boards up here for the benefit of your fellow countrymen – most of the discussions to date have led to board failures……….
We have specialist electronic repairers over here, but no much use half a world away!

Hi – I seem to be having a related problem.
My Fisher & Paykel Smartdrive 085 turns on OK, all buttons seem to work to change settings, but when I press start/pause, nothing happens. Can’t wash, can’t rinse, can’t spin. The board has been replaced once before and since that’s such an expensive exercise, we’ll just buy a new machine if it needs replacing again.
I’ve looked inside and the tech sheet is not in there. Fisher & Paykel in Australia refused to send a tech sheet too. (Although I have read that in NZ they will send a service manual to consumers?)
I’ve run the diagnostic mode and get the following:
00000000
00000000
00000000
01000100
00110111
00000010
00000011
00011001
01000001
00000010
11111111
000000**
00100100
01001001
00010100The ** above indicates where the last 2 LEDs alternate between 0 and 1 (when one becomes 0, the other becomes 1).
If anyone can either help me get hold of a tech sheet/service manual, or help me to interpret these codes, I would really appreciate it. I can be reached by email to ennio at bigpond dot net dot au.

We have a f&p 085 Smartdrive 5.0kg machine.
The other day, after 2 lodas no probs, a load of towels was put on, it stopped working. It now stops and starts (sounds as if opening and closing valves) in the fill mode regardless of which temp setting it is on. After a minute or so it starts beeping and LED displays off/on/off/on/off(rinse)/on/on(spin).
Any help would be much apprecited.

Post your email or fax no. and I’ll send you a diagnostic process with which you can ascertain a faulty component or a fault code. If you can then post the fault code I’ll send you the most likely causes.

As you haven’t responded to my post I’ll Advise that the most likely cause is an error either with your Display module or your Power module.

Hi alexa,
I have a F&P 7.5kg Smart Drive9.
Every load the machine stops mid wash and begins to beep. The hot and cold LED begin to flash. I over come this by playing with the hot/warm/cold buttons but it usually re-occurs again while in the rinse mode.
Any advice you can give me before I put a stick of TNT in it?
Thanks In Advance
