Fitting rubber sleeve to drum on Bosch WVF2402

Hi there,

I had a leak from the drum of my Bosch WVF2402 washer dryer.
Bought parts 172286 and 095195 which arrived today (see exploded diagram here: http://www.bosch-home.co.uk/store/spareparts/Washerdryerwashdry/WVF2402GB/02#tab4

Got the old ones out but I just cannot get the new ones in. The plastic insert goes inside the ribber sleeve but is actually smaller than the hole in the outer drum. Therefore, when you push the rubber sleeve to try and get it into the whole and seal, the plastic insert wants to just push out and fall between the inner and outer drums (which it has already once!).

Any tip son how to get this damn thing in would be appreciated. Got a growing pile of laundry to do!

You fit the rubber gaiter into the drum and ensure its recess is fully seated in the hole. Then insert the nylon collar from inside the drum into the rubber gaiter(a smear of washing-up liquid will make it fit more easily)…. 😉

Thanks Martin.
I have managed to get the rubber gaiter in with little fuss, but I have then tried getting the collar in from OUTSIDE the drum because I can’t see how to push from inside the outer drum.
How do I get between the inner and outer drums without taking half the machine apart?

Because you can’t! The inner drum has to be removed first as it is fitted from the INSIDE! 😀

That sounds like a nightmare!

How much am I going to have to take apart to do that?

I am loathed to but I may have to call the professionals in if this is a major job.
It’s so annoying because the outside-in method was so close but just couldn’t get it seated all the way round in such a tight space.

You’ve only got to remove the front panel, remove the barrel clamp holding the concrete weight and front drum plate. Undo the drum pulley and yank the drum out!

All in all it can be done in about an hour with breaks for tea and cucumber sarnies. Putting the front counterweight back on is hilariously challenging. Then having completed the task and finding on testing with water it leaks like a sieve, testing your resolve to the limit is all part of the fun!

P.S : I find swearing in Spanish, whilst wielding a hammer, helps. :clown:
