ParticipantThe other day I was reading a really useful thread about the different ways people fit Zanussi door seals / spring clamps. Now I’ve got one to do I wanted to go back to this thread but can’t find it anywhere. I’ve tried the search facility also but it didn’t work. Can somebody enlighten me please?

Yes that’s the one, thanks Keith.
Take the tub out? No, that doesn’t take long enough. I’m going to get up at 4 o’clock tomorrow morning to make up one of Clive’s special tools.I use the same method that one or two other people mentioned, namely the strong plastic hand clamps to hold the spring on the seal at one or two points round the drum as you go round with the spring. But it’s always useful getting ideas from other people as well. My one on Thursday is a WJS1397; not sure if there’s going to be enough room to get the clamp arm in on that model. From memory there didn’t seem to be much of a gap between seal and block.

If you can’t get the clamps in you can always try the tissue as suggested. The advantage of that is you’ll have something to wipe the blood off your knuckles afterwards 🙂

I haven’t got any blood left. 😥 I’ve sweated some of it getting integrated machines in and out 🙁 and some more slicing my hands on the razor sharp edges of machine panels 🙁 and the rest being bled dry by Mr Brown. 😥

dilute washing up liquid(I mix and keep it in a garden spray) on the seal flange and tub flange fit the boot onto the tub then wedge the spring in place at seven oclock with folded cardboard and work it round untill it snaps into place

Ah! Use the dilute detergent solution on the machine. For a minute there I thought you meant replace my blood with it. 🙄 Thanks for that tip Wilf. I think I’m pretty well genned up for this job now.
One point that I don’t think anybody’s mentioned is that on the washer dryers the job’s easier if you remove the front section of the air ducting first – the piece that fits into the seal. It’s only held in place by 2 or 3 screws. 🙂

ParticipantBefore I went over to refrigeration i used 2 feet off built in servis fridges to put between the counterbalance weight and outer drum its was the right size and because it was a plastic foot which was 6inches long gave enough room to use and by using 2 was the extra pair of hands you needed.
dont know if they have changed the spring coil clamp they used on fl828 ranges.

put washing up liquid on your hands, rub it in both sides put spring on the bottom of seal first, then pull upwards no special tools required. 😛
