Family of five, need to replace the dishwasher. Had an AEG which I repaired 3 times in its 8 years but now on its last legs. Getting a bit tired of fixing things, so was thinking of a series 6 Bosch for the five year warranty- but then I noticed a Smeg for around £350 which also has 5 year warranty.

So: Bosch or Smeg at half the price and am I thinking too much of the five year warranty?

Love this forum by the way, helped me out many times so thanks to all who contribute knowledge and experience.

Five year warranties are there as a promotional tool to boost sales of products. Smeg as a brand I alway think is obverpriced for what you are getting, have a read here for yourself. As for Bosch I still like them but they are not eveyones cup of tea on certain ranges, again take a look at this article for our thoughts.

Smeg service tends to be carried out by agents in your area while Bosch have their own service network. Spares are available via our own shop along with other on line sellers and retailers.

Hi Don, thanks for your reply. I guess I was more asking if they honour their warranty or try to deflect it as a user failure? The AEG had 2 buckled hinges(fancy scissor mechanism) and a slit in the water pump pipe. Simple repair except they bond one end of the pipe to the water pump so you are forced to change that too. Very cynical & I won’t be buying AEG again for that.

You will need to read the terms and conditions to get the whole picture.
