I have just replaced the brushes on my hotpoint aquarius wma44p, as I thought this would be the reason for the machine refusing to do anything. The door lock light was flashing before and is still flashing with the new brushes installed. Is it likely to be the door interlock switch. The missus said that she had seen flashes under the machine when it stopped mid cycle. This was before I replaced the brushes.Anyone any ideas before I go and by a new machine?

It is a strong possiblity that the arcing brushes, particularly Bosch motor brushes have blown the main PCB. It is often possible to see signs of blown tracks or components on the board. If the replacement brushes came without black plastic holders and slotted into the side of the motor then that is a Bosch motor.

Also the wiring harness to the motor can chafe badly on the lower concrete balance weight.

    Jim.
