well im still coooking the roast on one side… so gathering info before i attack.
im going to check for voltage at element and if theres voltage il suspect the element. and i think the element should be 18 ohms, not 100{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} tho…. but that still leaves the clock on front and the ignitor…. but maybe they run off the element. thanks for re0plying

Uhm, live testing… a sure way to end up electrocuted. 😉
It comes highly not recommended.
Better idea is that you check the obvious things first. Such as the commutator switch which, if it’s gone, will likely be visibly blown. Then thermostats. Then elements. That would be the way to do it if the oven is completely dead as there’s two elements at least and it’s highly unlikely that both would fail at the same time.
All these can be checked with a multi meter and no power.

Yup, a lot of it you have to figure out as you go.
For a cooker the trick is to get to the stuff behind the control panel, which isn’t always the easiest task it has to be said. But unless you know exactly where the fault lies, that’s where to start most often.
Remember that others can and do read these threads, often hundreds of people, that might not be aware of the dangers of working with live appliances and it is supposed to be banned now by some EU legislation to boot. But for most people, it’s not a good plan and it takes two minutes to cut the power to a cooker. Two minutes that might save a life.

IS THERE A COMUTATOR SWITCH FOR EACH OVEN…AS ONE OVEN IS STILL WORKING?? WHAT YOU THINK ABOUT THE THE CLOCK AND IGNITOR BEING POWERED OF THE BROKEN OVEN..???

i have found this info on the web kwatt, and was wondering if it rings any bells with yourself..I had the same problem real easy fix
The thermal fuse is at the rear behind the oven.
First remove the rear panels, you will need to take the middle cover off first then you can take off the lower rear panel, as its the left side (looking from the back) you will have no problems with the mains connector as its on the other side.
Once the rear panel is off you need to look for a brown wire, at some point on the wire you see some red or black rubber heat shrink. Remove the heat shrink by sliding off to one side or just cut it. now the thermal fuse is exposed its only a small thing and you can get a replacment Idealy you should crimp or solder it in if not use chok block and cover it in insulating tape.January 1, 2012 at 4:08 pm #366332kwatt

Hmm, straws, clutching… without looking and diagnosing. 😉
The thermal fuse that you are referring to is this one:
Which is changed to this one now:
Very cheap but it’s a guess and, so far as I know, that usually takes out the lot.
There has to be a control switch for each oven otherwise both ovens would do the same thing at the same time. 😉
I’d need the full model number and possibly serial number to check any further for you as there are plenty versions of those cookers. Flavel was owned by Rangemaster but now the name is owned by Beko, I expect you have a Beko built version by the sounds of it.
