If you have public liability insurance then inform them. They should then deal directly with your customer.

Ditto on that. 😉
Looks like a laminate floor you’ve got there and whilst there’s a slim chance that one or two damaged sections could be replaced it would involve lifting half the floor to do it. Also colour matching would be an issue in any case. Ring your PL insurers….. 🙂

I think plastic-surgeon.co.uk do all type of repairs.

Only if the customer will allow it which in this case I would say is very unlikely. 😉

The one time (well it was twice actually in one year IIRC, just little knocks) I ever claimed anything on my car insurance I ended up paying just as much or more in increased premiums over the following few years 👿 as I would have had to pay had I just paid the garage myself.
Picture looks like a rip in soft vinyl to me.

Had a similar problem with whhirlpool BI D/W with bolts for legs, shockers.
In the end the ost of replacement was £20 dearer than my excess so tinned out, felt sick for a couple of days after though.
No upgrade’s if like me you know someone in the flooring trade get their advice and help and depending on your insurance terms decision can be made.
Better to keep customer and try and recoup in later years.

A sheet of hardboard in the van can avoid situations such as this, yes I know its after the horse has bolted but its worth consideration for the future, nothing worse than having to pay out for damage claims !

This wont be cut and dried, the customer is entitled to expect you to correct the damage, but there is a case of betterment, how old is the floor, general condition etc etc.
Mant years ago a customer bounced a cheque on me because she said i damaged her floor. I refused to pay and took her to court for the money, she counter claimed for £400+ for a new floor, it went all the way to court and the magistrate determined that she isnt entitled to the full cost as that would put her in a better position than before my visit, he worked out a percentage for the damage which was half what she owed me. I wasnt entirely happy as i thought the damage was allready there.I would make her an offer, with out prejudice, and see how you get on.

I’ve seen vinyl with a design like that. If that is real wood, how do you account for the shape of the hole? Wood splits, doesn’t it? Well, it does when I take an axe to it anyway. Never managed to damage a wood floor yet but there’s always this afternoon.
Good to have a reminder like this once in a while – reminds us to be careful. Not suggesting that raw wasn’t careful!

its laminate flooring, we had to pull machine out to do inspection of the beko washing machine as they was claiming for new machine because a 2p had damaged the tub, just before we pulled it out customer wiped floor over as she had been feeding the toddler, we pulled machine out tipped it back learning against the worktop like have done thousands of times, when got my iphone sorted to take picture of the damage the machine fell backwards, quickly pulled machine back up took picture then customer spotted the damage to the floor, just had email stating be £600+ to replace whole floor 😯

Don’t forget to state “customer made the floor wet and slippy” on your PL report. 😉

Can you not find out where the floor came from and see if you can get the same floor and get someone to take out the damaged bits and place with new boards ?? Can understand if you cannot get a matching board but if you can ,then a full new floor should not be needed.
