I have been approached by Flybe at Exeter airport if I can supply some integrated dishwashers to be installed “airside” at Glasgow and Edinburgh airports to start with, other airports are in the pipeline around the country, so if I can pull this one off there will be others in the future.

Flybe can ship the machines in their aircraft holds to sites, what I have to source is the installation of these machines. If anyone is interested please pm me with costs etc and I will try and tie them down.

At the moment they have settled on Neff fully integrated machines, they are aware that they will only come with a one year warranty as they will be used on a semi commercail basis.

Installing “airside” means fitters will have to complete a security / safety form allowing them to work in that area, which I`m told is just a formality.

That is what they always say, truth is likely to be an awful lot different when you are trying to enter with toolbox etc . If it is anything like Newcastle airport, expect at least half a day messing around trying to get clearance on the day and as for parking close by………

I have had a similar approach in the past and had to decline. My insurer nearly took a fit when I told him the installs/ repairs would be on aircraft, can you imagine what damage a leak at 33,000 ft could do 😆

IME van nowhere near site, have to go through terminal security with a tool bag full of dangerous items, then same proceedure again if you need to get something from your van, parked a bus ride away. Would need a high rate to cover the time and hassle. oh yeah and passport nessesary too!

John, I would assume that these are not actually ON an aircraft 😉

Yes they were, the enquiry was about fitting/repairing single F&P dishdrawers on planes,

sorry, thought you were referring to this thread, nevermind interesting subject, do they have any water pressure on a plane? did they ever get fitted?

After reading what Mark said about water pressure it got me thinking so I just spoke to the original source of the enquiry and it turns out the dishwashers were to be fitted in small private lounges in airports, The insurance guy must have thought I was mad.

    Spot the plonker 😳

Doningtons whole existence hangs in the balance right now and at best its an abandoned building site, wouldnt hold out too many hopes this will go ahead right now.
