ParticipantOur Diplomat APM 8702 washer dryer leaks sudsy water down the inside of the front casing, when there’s a lot of foam (e.g. maintenance wash) or a bulky load (bulky, not overweight).
This happens when the drum is agitating, not when filling or emptying. No problem if no detergent used, so I’m assuming the foam build-up is coming out of the top of the drum somewhere.
Is this a design problem, or do I have a faulty door seal? There is a hole at the top of the door seal (as well as a drain hole at the bottom), but it looks like it’s meant to be there (air vent?)
Would appreciate any advice.

Consistent over-soaping over the years leads to soap residue collecting under the drum. A bulky load leads to lots of air being trapped in the laundry, which is blown out as the tumbling action takes place. You are, quite literally, blowing bubbles…….. A couple of service washes (90c) perhaps without any detergent given the circumstances should clear the worst of it. Ensure filter at the bottom is clear, check water hardness in your area and adjust dosage accordingly.

Did two 95Ëš service washes without detergent. Not much in the way of bubbles in the water. Then another 95Ëš wash with half a scoop of detergent; the same behaviour resulted as before. While the foam was only half way up the drum, no problem, but when it hit the top, it all started spewing down the inside of the front panel. Drained it; moved onto the rinse cycle and no problems thereafter.
Half a scoop of detergent is way below the recommended level (and generally we use less than recommended for the very hard water that we have). The filter is fine. Any other suggestions?
Thanks

What detergent are you using?

Normally Ariel liquid, but for the last service wash I used Vanish powder so the bleaching agents could zap any mould.
