    Hello

why do these things ALWAYS happen at the worst of all moments ?

Above mentioned dishwasher has decided to pack it in three days before christmas. What could the cause of the following problem be :

When i start a cycle/program it pumps out first, but then the part of the program where the machine should be getting the water to begin the cycle never materialises. The machine pumps for a good four to five minutes and -i guess- goes into “self protect”.

    Symptoms :
four minutes of pumping (guestimated – lost will to live 1/2 way through)
beeping and the start light flashes four times
    – pause –
    and same again.

Up until two hours ago this happened mid cycle but now it is from the word go.

    I tried :

Pressing start for 10 sec. (reset)
    Cleaning filters
    Cleaning sump
Brushed the filter in the sump
    Poured in boiling hot water
The machine even pumps out the water (mixed the boiling hot water with a wee bit of beetroot juice so i know it was the water i poured in as on the try before i used normal water and normal water came out).

I guess this rules out a blockage (as suggested per another post”) but i have not the faintest idea wht the other two options mean, i just hope(ed) to remove any gunge/fat with the hot water.

I would like to add that a few days ago i opened the machine mid program (sort of) as i had forgotten to put in a few knives.

I would like to give the 85xyz number – but for this i would have to seriously dismantle the machine – or at least take the front cover off.

Any ideas what i could do other then buying a brush and a big bottle of Fairy Liquid and wait for the engineer to come…after xmas. Im Belgium customer service is not good at all and the lads are all on holidays.

    Thanks a million

    Guido

The machine thinks that it is full of water. I assume that it isn’t, but I do not have the technical information for your machine, as it is a European model. If you remove the filters in the centre of the machine and look to the right, you should see a black plastic grill. This is the water level control. It has a bad habit of filling up with fat and other food deposits behind the grill. This causes a false reading to the computer. You need to clean it out as your starting point. The unit can be removed from under the machine if it is badly choked and flushed out with boiling water if neccessary.

This may fix it. Try it and report back.

Stay safe, power off when working on the machine.

    Regards,

you are an absolute STAR. It was the black thingie. There was so much white greasy stuff in it you could have a made a christmas puding with it. Yuk….

the machine is purring away like a kitten. I hope i did not brake anything else and that we have old sparky instead. One thought though : which or what kind of a do-kbrain must you be to construct such a poor design or is there no other ay and the rak do-k is in front of the machine chucking everything in there without thinking too much ?

    Thanks again. Christmas is saved.

God speed to you when driving home for christmas

Glad you’re sorted, Guido. Unfortunately the problem is caused by user error – you’ve got to get the heavy, sticky deposits of the crockery before it goes into the machine. We have to remind people ftom time to time that the machine is a washer, not a waste disposal unit! 😆

All the best to you and yours,
    Penguin45.
