    Hi all, from sunny Oz.
I live on an island & it’s a real pain to get machine to a techo – so I try to do it myself – any help greatly appreciated.
History: Our F&P GW701U badly fried the main board (scorch marks in casing below motor circuits, melted tracks etc)
Checked resistance of inlet valves (OK), cleaned & checked pump then ran it separately on bench (OK), checked motor windings (I get only around 10 Ohms with crappy meters – shouldn’t it be around 30 Ohms?).
Replaced main board (blue), mains on, into diagnostics – no fault showing.
Attempted “Start wash” – beeping & red LED 1 on – no go.
Back to Diagnostic = Fault 17.
Fault 17 not on list I have from previously fixing neighbours washer – what is it?

Do I need to set size of 701 after putting in new board? If so, how to set 7.5kg?

17 is the boards not talking to each other correctly. If you you turn off the auto restart, it should show you a different fault code which we may be able to work with.

Size error comes up as 9 – if it hasn’t, leave it.

    Thanks Penguin,

When going into Diagnostic (as per your Sticky above) I don’t get “2 beeps” but pattern of LEDS seems to change correctly.
Restart then seems to turn on/off OK.
With Restart OFF (confirmed by 5 LHS LEDs showing) I get Fault 9 ( = size problem)

So I try to set size:
I turn Restart back ON (either via diagnostic or Mains OFF for 10secs) to get zero LEDs at Mains ON. Then hold TEMP UP as hit POWER – but this does not give expected 4 beeps and LEDS do not change from “Ready to Wash” pattern – so I can’t set size (for 7.5kg = SPIN SPEED UP to light SPIN HOLD, then press POWER to lock in size . I don’t have “Tech Instructions” for this machine – is this the correct procedure for trying to set size? If so, any ideas on what’s going wrong?

If i try to Start wash i still get LED 1 flash & beep & no action.
I’m concerned that as I still don’t know cause of original board frying I risk blowing the new one.

    all the best, Splashcam.
