F&P ED56AU Dryer Ser No. DEL142259 – motor won’t start

I have an Fisher & Paykel ED56AU clothes dryer that turns on OK, all buttons work but when I press Start the elements start to heat up but the motor won’t start.

I would like to run the diagnositcs before I start pulling it apart and checking the individual wiring but I do not know what the procedure is to get into diagnostic mode, neither do I know the fault codes.

Also I ask if this is a common problem?

Currently have no info on the dryers at all.

If it’s a front loader, it’ll probably have a capacitor start and run motor – capacitor may well have failed; a very common problem with UK dryers.

I would have thought if the heaters are coming on that the electronics are not actually detecting any fault at all.
