I was faced with a GW601-K which on a preliminary examination was obviously in dire need of a new OOB microswitch. Easily fixed, scavenges microswitch from another machine and installs it.

On firing up the machine, it would let in a few brief jets of water and them halt complaining loudly.

An embrarrassingly long time is spent investigating the cause. Large areas of circuitry reverse engineered, probed poke and generallly abused.

Then, recently, I find ukwhitegoods. Manna from heaven (probably Mana for us kiwis). I am able to identify the problem as an error 43 from the diagnostic codes; Out Of Ballance problem.

Another embarrassingly long pause. Traces and proves all relevant circuitry from the switch to the microprocessor.

With the dawn comes the idea: if it doesn’t like the switch being open, perhaps it would prefer it to be closed. Voila ! A happy machine. A happy psycho sparky.

Be warned: some machines have normally open OOB switches, some have normally closed.

All OOB switches are normally closed.
