ParticipantHi there,
I have a Fisher & Paykel MW051-U top-loading washing machine. It’s recently developed a problem whereby when any water temperature other than cold is selected, the water trickles out very slowly. When cold temperature is selected, normal flow occurs, but when any of the other four temperature settings are selected, it’s like the machine has a very bad prostate problem 😉 Can anyone advise from that information whether the hot or cold water valves may be faulty?
I’ve checked the supply, and it’s all good, both hot and cold. I took the top off and had a look at the valves etc., but I can’t figure out how to remove the valves – there’s a tricky 5-prong plastic clip thingy that it looks like one would need a special tool to remove… it holds the valve to a small water tank by means of a metal clip. Does anyone know if it’s possible to find a repair manual for this machine?
Thanks in advance,

Course, once you’re down here in the Oz forum, we can help you…….. 😀
Your hot water valve is goosed, replace it. P/no 426142. The retainer can be removed by pulling upwards after the two screws have been removed.

Looks like I’ve got a similar problem, but it’s the frequently used Cold that doesn’t work. Just to get it going, I’ve reversed the power feeds to hot/cold solenoids.
So how do I get the cold solenoid out? I can see the white plastic retainers but can’t seem to pry the out of the casing.
Any suggestions on where to get a replacement (Canberra, Australia)? If it’s easier/cheaper, I could just get the entire section containing both soleniods & water intakes.

Same model I think, smart drive 051, top-loader. It’s about 10 years old now I think.

Retaining bracket is retained by two screws. Undo them, and the outer section should prise up and off.
Cold valve is p/no 426413. Can’t advise as to suitable supplier due to being 14,000 miles away………. 😀

Thanks for the info, a new valve has done the trick.
