I have a F & P MW511 that has a noisy bearing. What is involved in replacing the bearing/bearings, is replacing seals involved and are there kits available. Thanks.
Fairly big job for the novice
Generally have to replace Shaft Seal , BEarings x 2 and in most cases the main Shaft (Beraings wear a Groove In shaft)
Parts Are Sold Seperately
Seal Part # 425009P
Shaft Part5 # 420794p
2x Bearings (6005) Part # 425006p
Have to remove Outer & Inner Bowl as Complete Assembly
I have at last completed the bearing replacement in my MW511 and as Bigsmokepiker alluded it is a fairly big job for the novice – not helped by pressing the bearings out the wrong end. The shaft definitely required replacing as the seal had worn it and leaking had just began. To facilitate pressing the bearings and seal in squarely I had to fashion some jigs in the form of pipes of the correct length to fit over both ends of the shaft to pull the new shaft and top bearing in from below and to press the new seal in from the top. We now have a very quiet machine. These machines a very easy to work on – disassembly and reassembly is quick and easy.
