ParticipantHi All,
Over the last few months I intermittently get an issue with my washing machine, the water stopping and starting, then the machine beeps and stops.
This issue would occur and resolve itself after a few days
last week it happened again, and I got sick of waiting for it to fix itself
So thanks to these forums I pulled the code : 43
which is Out of blance switch code.
I wiggled the switch and after this it seemed to rectify the problem.
I started my load, but for some reason, the water in the tub overfilled and spilt, it was as though the tub couldn’t tell how much water was in it.
The cycles work fine though, so I set it to spin, and the water emptied,
but then when I tried to do another test wash, the same issue with the water stopping and starting happened, and code : 43 was reoccurring. Now the wiggling wont help fix it, so I am going to replace the whole OOB switch.
My question is about the water over filling- Is this a side affect of the OOB swictch being faulty, or have I broken something else in my attempt to check the OOB switch?
Your help is greatly appreciated
BTW I’m not sure what model is it, F+P 7.5kg Smartdrive excellence, I know its a phase 2, cause I don’t have to press “advance” to run diagnostics.
Oh and one more thing – F+P want near $50 for the switch, but I have read here that there are $4 generic switches, that would need slight modification to work- is this a hard process
Thanks alot

The OOB microswitch is a common electrical item. The reason they fail is due to condensation causing corrosion in the switch contacts. The replacement is a sealed switch (moulded with wiring) As this is an old machine and most likely nearing the end of its life, I would just replace with the same. As far as the overfilling goes you may have disturbed the air pressure hose for the transducer.
Make sure there is no water in the bowl remove the clear plastic hose from the module and blow through. Refit the hose and wash test. If you still have the overfilling problem its most likely you will have to replace the module.December 9, 2007 at 12:04 am #236483Shankman

Thanks kiwireeferman,
I replaced the switch, and all was working ok after that.
