ParticipantHey all,
Had the washing on yesterday and the washing machine stopped in the middle of the wash. So I took all the clothes out and washed them by hand as I didn’t have time to muck around with the washer. I did some reading on the internet and put the thing into diagnostic mode (wtemp down / power). By pushing the Advance button, I was able to bring up the Lid Status LED / Out of balance LED. The Lid Switch LED is lit and doesnt change when I open/close the lid, so I suspect my lid switch has failed.
Is there any easy way to try and ‘temporarily’ fix this so it thinks the lid is shut ? From my reading, to replace the switch is a fairly involved process and I’d essentially have to buy a replacement switch (someone said $60) and then probably pay someone to come and install it ($100). I don’t have many tools aside from a screwdriver and shifting spanner, and am not very mechanically minded.
Thanks in advance,
Gervase

As a bit of an update to this – On a whim I tried the washing machine again this morning and it worked.
AND, when I opened the lid, the washing machine continued to operate, so I think my diagnosis was correct, only now its permenantly stuck in “lid is closed mode”. Not that I’m complaining, i’d just like to know what to do if it decides the lid is open again.
If I got a friend over, could we find the wires leading to the lid switch and simply join them to bypass the switch and make it think its always closed ?

ParticipantIs there a fault code that you can post?

no, already checked for a fault code. I’m guessing it doesnt register as a fault as the switch is simply reporting the lid to be open.

ParticipantIts not safe to disable the switch. Cant have drum spinning and lid open. Heres how to check it though. :rolls:
Phase 2 (Late) to 5 .
The lid switch is controlled by a reed switch located under the top deck on the
right hand side towards the front. The reed switch is activated by a magnet which is moulded into the
lid assembly. This switch is closed when the lid is closed. Use a multimeter to check operation. The
resistance should be less than 2 ohms. 🙂 -
