ParticipantHi,
I have a F&P Smartdrive Model GW503-K, Product Number 90974 that lights up and allows you to change the settings on the control board but then just won’t go. I have gone into the diagnostic mode and have had a play and got the hot/cold water solenoids to operate and also the pump motor. I then got onto F&P’s helpline to get a tech sheet (hopefully to get some idea of how to operate the diagnostics) and was informed that it was illegal to give this information out?? I find this very strange as being a registered electrician I do not see any law here in NZ preventing me from working on any electrical equipment. I can understand that F&P might want to protect their industry and provide service technicians with a job but to say that it is illegal is very strange to me.
Anyway please could anyone give me an insight into the diagnostics and error codes on this model. Many Thanks.August 27, 2005 at 5:55 pm #146010Penguin45

I would think that the fault lies with the lid switch. Does the 12 minute light go out when the lid is closed?
To enter diagnostics, hold down the wash temperature down button and the power.
If you check at the lower end of the forum topics page you will find an Oz forum – there are numerous F+P threads which you can check.

Thank you Penguin45 for your quick reply.
When opening and closing the washing machine lid no lights appear to go out on the display. The display stays as it was set with the light flashing ready for you to press start (i.e in pause mode). Am I correct in assuming that the lid uses a simple magnetic reed switch or is it more complex than this (measuring a change in capacitance or inductance?)
Also the fascia has been replaced and there doesn’t appear to be a light marked 12 minute (am I correct in assuming that this the timed delay indicator??).
I will have a look on the Oz forum as you suggested.Cheers Ian

Hi Ian,
I’m a long way away, with some parts and service manuals – very little practical experience (I’ve only ever seen three of these over here). With a bit of luck Kiwi or Fast+Pro will pick up on this and be able to advise you further.Regards,

Thanks Penguin45,
It was the safety interlock on the lid.
It has a magnet in the lid and a reed switch in the body.
Baby things now washed and back under control 😎Many Thanks from the antipodes
