ParticipantI have a Fisher & Paykel Smartdrive GW701U whose pump starts when mains turned ON.
When mains is turned on at the socket, the usual all LEDS light and tones sound before going out BUT the pumps starts and keeps on running regardless of whether you have pressed the POWER on button. You can even change your wash cycle settings, e.g. temp, level, wash time, etc., but the pumps keps running continously.
Thanx in advance. 😀

Hello again, Wiz.
Got to be a triac failure on the control board, I’d have thought.

Hiya Penuin45!
Thanx for replying so fast.
Any chance you could tell me what the board component number is for the triac please so I can test and replace it? 😯
Thanx mate. 😀

Sorry, Mark, haven’t a clue. Tech info isn’t THAT good! Bit of patience and you should be able to track it back with a multi-meter.
Good luck,

LOL!! I thought you would like my request!
Of course you were correct, it was a triac. replaced it with another an it’s working fine.
Tell me something please, what is error 16?? I cannot find it listed or mentioned in any F&P documentation.
Thanx,
Mark

I to have the same problem. The other night the water pump (non-genuine **never again**) blew, jumped our breaker switch and the pump caught on fire.
I have now replaced the pump with a new genuine unit as well as the blown fuse in the machine. Now as soon as I turn on the mains to the machine the pump turns on regardless of whether the actual machine is on/off itself.
After reading this thread I am assuming I have the same issue. I have removed the main board from the machine but before I go testing it I needed to check a couple of things:
– Is there any current stored in the capacitors on the board? If so what is the best way to discharge them so I don’t get a nasty shock?
– Would anyone be able to point me to the exact triac that is for the pump motor so I can test/replace it first?Any help as soon as possible would be greatly appreciated as we have mounds of clothes to wash and I am down to my last pair of socks 🙂
Would anyone be available in the north side of Brisbane area to perhaps lend a hand with it? I can am happy to pay for the service if need be.
Thanks very much,

Have already stated in post #4 that I can’t advise. Following the tracks back from the connector will take you there.
