ParticipantNeed help please. I turn my machine on, set it up and hit the start button. All that happens is the leftmost LED stops flashing. No whirring/pump sound… and yes, cold water tap *is* open.
So I went into diag-mode. After I get to the Hold/Slow selection there are NO error code leds… unless I hit the START button (then just SPIN led is displayed), but I have a feeling I shouldn’t have to do that.
Am I doing something wrong? Help would be VERY much appreciated. Thanks.

Hi skelstar
The lid reed switch has failed. You won’t find an error code for this type of fault in the diagnostic mode. To confirm this you need to go back into the diag-mode and get up the Med selection on spin speed. The second from the left green LED should only be lit if the lid is up. If this same LED is on with the lid is down then the lid reed switch has gone open circuit.
The switch is located under the front right side of the plastic top deck. Can access by removing the two front screws under the lid. Then lift up the top deck.

Awesome, you were right… it seems it must be the reed-switch. I’ll see if I can get a new part from (probably?) LV Martins. If I can’t then maybe I’ll sort out the nature of the switch and maybe just short it out… I’m an electronics tech.
Cheers for the help.

I wouldn’t recommend bypassing it, as forms part of a safety feature. You can get a replacement from F&P for about $33 incl GST part # P5812.

ParticipantHmm.. got the replacement switch, installed but still seems same problem and still has 2nd from left led lit regardless of lid position. I concede that I could have bungled the install but I notice that the RINSE led is lit also. Does this imply another fault? I can’t recall if this led was lit before I replaced the switch or not.

The LEDs across the top row are designed to light in a particular way to indicate a “fault code” when the machine goes bad. There are usually eight LEDs. Starting from the RIGHTHAND (spin) LED (#1) , which ones are lit?
