To be honest, i think Dyson must be doing something to compensate, all the multiples (apparently), will be widely advertising the free 5yr guarantee.

An extra discount on settlement no doubt 😉 Must ask the Dyson rep when he comes in.

Depends on the terms Dave which I haven’t a clue, but you can bet there’s exclusions. 😉

Blockages – please refer to the section in your user guide or in this Customer Care section of the website for details on how to remove blockages in your machine.
Use of the machine for anything other than normal domestic household purposes.

Use of parts and accessories which are not Dyson Genuine Components.
Faulty installation (except installation by Dyson).
Repairs or alterations carried out by parties other than Dyson or its authorised agents

Being an ‘Authorised Agent’ seems to be the way to go if that’s possible kladave?

The wife is very happy with hers, it’s about 4 years old and she regularly spends 10 or 15 minutes cleaning the filters etc. I suspect most people who say the lose suction are the kind of people who never clean it or change filters.

Working for Comet, we see absolutely loads of Hoover/Electrolux machines brought back, cutting out, not picking up, etc etc

We always ask that they’ve cleaned the filters, of course, they say yes.

When they get inspected, cleaned the filters, they have not!

It says so bloody clearly in the manuals, and even on big stickers on the things themselves!

The GIAS guy who comes to see the Hoover’s, absolutely hates them, pretty much every fault is down to the filters, yet, he refuses to charge people for the no fault found, so in 6 months time, they just come back again, he cleans them, and so on. 👿

    Correct.

I still can’t see the multiples being over the moon about this, but then I guess they’ll get in Panasonic or Sebo, perhaps even Meile and start to tell people that they’re cheaper and more reliable than a Dyson.

Oh, wait a minute…. they are!! :snigger:

i have to say i have quite a few freinds and family with Dysons old and new. They love them and even if they have had a repair say Dyson were wonderful and would buy another. They have affection for Mr Dyson and his funky cleaners and that is something lacking these days in electrical goods. I mean can anyone really say they love their Indesit! ouch! i dont think.

Went through Chapel Allerton this afternoon. JW Bennett, a long established “small electricals” business has closed down. There is a sign in the window with a mobile number saying “Dyson repair business for sale”.

    Shame.

    Re: Free Dyson 5yr Guarantee!

Indeed Wilf, I’ve had a couple of Dysons over time and the cylinder ones were better but still blocked up after a while. Bought a Sebo a year or so ago and it just works… way better than any of the Dysons I’ve tried.

TBH even the little Panny cylinders picked up better.

People like how they look though and seem somehow hypnotised by seeing the dirt in the mucky clear plastic bin.
