ParticipantI am looking for a free Standing Washing machine
Usage:- 2 Adults, 2 children
Loads:- 5-6 loads per week. Mostly 2 loads per day on the weekend.
USe both Line Dry and tumble Dry alternatively and prefer Line Dry whenever possible.
No size limit, Budget £650 – £900
Preferred function for me in washing machine is to have Wifi or internet connectivity so that i can start the machine and stop it whenever i can remotely.
If there is any function that allows me to soak clothes for a specific time period before washing then I’d settle for that instead of Wifi connectivity. I usually start the machine for 15 mins soaking the clothes, then pause for 3-4 hours after which I restart. Any function that can help me achieve this is fine.Reliability and quality washing is important for me. Great if it could be quiet. Can compromise on number of programmes and other features.
UkWhitegoods had recommended bosch in 2008 and that has never let me down. Tempted to stick with Bosch but happy to consider any other ones too.
Any recommendations considering the above ?September 29, 2017 at 6:57 am #450745Martin

Miele, Miele or Miele the 3 options.
Avoid Wi-fi connectivity like the plague (Lots of issues there). Leaving machine on pause is NEVER a good thing or a facility adopted by the manufacturers. Operating a machine unattended a definite no no.
Enjoy your Miele and operate is as per their instruction manual. Many models come with a 10 yr guarantee IF you use it correctly. 😉

Thanks for your reply Martin.
If I want to save some money without compromising on the quality and reliability, then should I be considering any other brands besides Miele like Bosch or ANY others ? I wanted to ideally have a good one around/under £650 but happy to stretch a bit further. for a better one.
The ones I originally thought of were

And
http://www.bosch-home.co.uk/product-lis … readcrumb=I appreciate one should NEVER leave appliances running unattended but aren’t there any washing machines that have good ‘smart’ connectivity to the internet/Wifi. I thought that was the way forward for all appliances in the future.

I fail to see the point of wanting to connect to your washing machine remotely by Wi-fi. The electronics on these appliances are flaky at best. The power supplies simply keeping them ‘on standby’ often means the PCB’s overheat and fail in no short order. But the main concern is they are an open door to cyber crime. The stuff of science fiction to many but a real and common danger. Allowing criminals free access to all your passwords, bank accounts and even listening to your every word via Alexa type devices, web cams and CCTV. And all because you wanted a washing machine you could switch on and off whilst sunning yourself on a beach on the Costa’s. Totally totally pointless.
But, I digress 😉
Bosch are good, doesn’t hold a candle to Miele though. Just saying ! 😀

Thanks Martin. Good explanation on why I should go for Wifi connectivity. I have now dropped the idea of Wifi
Any specific model you’d recommend in Miele or Bosch should I choose the latest one off their website ? Don’t mind a model that’s a couple of years old . Atleast that way I know its a tried and tested one.
I am looking for a 8-9 kg capacity one.October 16, 2017 at 9:52 pm #450749coolusee

Helo Martin,
Checked couple of Miele models. I liked WMB120 which has softsteam honeycomb drum and CapDosing. Is it worth going for ‘Softsteam honenycomb’ drum?
Also this model does not have separate rinse programme which found a bit dificult to accept.October 17, 2017 at 7:02 am #450750Martin

The honeycomb drum allows for unrivalled water circulation over the conventional drum. Using the ‘extra rinse’ facility will overcome your washing concerns.
