Ha ha ….made you look though! READ ON……….
I was called out to a hotpoint wd420 last week, after a few checks I found that the power board had blown along with an 8 way edge connector. Given that the machine was just two years old I advised customer to call hotpoint and pay the £89.98 labour charge and get the (Expensive) Parts needed foc.
The customer asked me to make the call for them from there home phone, no probs Iwas happy to oblige. Having gone through the queing process I was informed that because I had diagnosed the fault I had invalidated the customer’s 5 year parts warranty.
I explaines that I am a hotpoint trained engineer and in any case if they still insist on being silly the customer could just call back tommorow and deny all knowledge of the current call.
Sure enough the call was made by customer next day(Wednesday) and call booked for Monday following.
Customer was called back again on Thursday to be told they must pay for parts AND labour!!!! Indesit co would not budge.
Outcome?………Customer cancelled call, paid my labour charge, asked me to remove Hotpoint wd420p and supply new……BOSCH.
Wonder how many I, you, they & all there freinds will repeat this excellent customer service story to? MILLIONS WE HOPE!!!
