Freezer alarm sounds intermittently but no defrosting

I have a Bauknecht 3 draw freezer model 8552 050 15300. It has worked fine for 5 years but now the alarm goes off every couple of hours for a minute or so. The temperature in the freezer is fine: I measured it at -20C the last time the alarm sounded. Anyone know what is wrong/solution? If I could just disable the alarm it would be fine as I can monitor the temp easily myself.

Hi

check that the door is closing onto the door/light switch correctly as if its no connecting then that can cause alarm to activate.

thanks for the reply but I have checked the door and it is fine – any one got any other ideas? Is the alarm unit a separate component which might have gone wrong?
