ParticipantHello,
I have an upright Iceline Deluxe U79577 Frost Free freezer. It’s about 7 years old.
In hot weather it seems to have patches of water underneath. Does anyone know why this might be and how it can be repaired (if at all)?
The water appears under the bottom right leg (where the door hinge is).
Thanks in advance to all who reply.
Regards

KeymasterI am not familiar with that unit but two ideas off the top of my head are…
My first guess would be that the anti-condensate line is incorrect or for some reason not performing as it should do. In warm weather you would often see condesation appearing at the door seals and there is a pipe usually taken down by the doors with the hot gas in it to heat that and stop this condensation forming. You should be able to visibly see that condensation if that is the case.
The other option is an insulation failure in the bottom of the unit.
Either presents a challenge to repair and is most certainly not a DIY job if it can be repaired at all. That said, whether it’s even worth considering is debatable at best.

Hello kwatt,
Thank you for kindly replying to my enquiry.
I will try to tilt the freezer to take a look but I think you are right, the freezer may be on its way out.
Damn, now I have to find £350 for another one. Great.
Thanks again

ParticipantHi there,
I noted that your appliance is frost free. So obviously it has a defrost system. So there must be a drain hole in the appliance to take away the defrost water. This could be blocked with a fungal growth that likes cool damp conditions. This can be cleared by pouring boiling water down the drain tube.
If the insulation has failed on the bottom this is quite an easy repair. With aluminium sheet pop rivets and rock wool. If I can assist you further please get in touch,……Brian ReesAugust 19, 2004 at 2:48 pm #115445essad1961

Hello Brian,
Thank you for kindly replying.
I will try to take a look at the freezer to see what, if anything, can be done.
Thanks again

My advice would be to move to Scotland- no hot weather problems up here!
