ParticipantAeg fridge freezer troubleshooting.
Freezer works just fine, fridge doesn’t.
Before this happened, fridge started froze on the back, like a lot, then after one month, stopped working all together. Freezer still working fine. Model s73400cnso. What should i check first?January 17, 2020 at 12:38 am #465950kwatt
Keymasters73400cnso is not a valid number.
Can you get the product code from the rating plate, might be marked PNC so we can see what it is?

KeymasterCheck the fridge thermostat.
If that’s okay then it’s a system problem and you won’t be able to DIY it.

ParticipantWhere does the termostat should be, is it behind that knob that you turn from 0 to 6?
It seems to cool down a little now, but now my much. Freezer continues to cool down ok.January 19, 2020 at 7:39 pm #465954kwatt
KeymasterYes, it’s there but, asking that question you’re probably not up on how to check them.
How they work is explained here: https://www.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/help/fix-it-yourself/refrigeration-self-help/3658-fridge-and-freezer-thermostats

ParticipantI opened it up, but a wire is straight soldered to what i think is the thermostat, and then the other end goes inside a small hole in the fridge with no access to disconnect it. How can i find a schematics to this , or where?
January 19, 2020 at 10:49 pm #465956Pif
ParticipantWell, i don’t want to check them, cause then, i will have to learn how, and then spend money on gear that i will probably not need again. I just want to change thermostat or whatever part might be at fault, cause parts are cheap, before i threw it away and buy a new one, if i dont find whats wrong with it. Will be happy to find the schematics, to see where the parts are, and change the ones i think they are causing the fault, one by one. I dont want to call someone to come to fix it cause it will be more likely he wil charge me 140 200£, wich is the starting price for a new fridge. Willing to spend 30 50 in parts and give it a try, and if it doesent work, then to get a new one. I have a spare one, and i do like fiddling with this kinds of things, when i have time.

KeymasterHonestly, at that point, you really need a pro-repairer.
I think it may well be a refrigerant system issue but the thermostat is this one, it’s a £30 odds gamble:
