freezer working Fridge NOT, Diplomat APM 6842

I have a Diplomat APM 6842 fridge/freezer, Its about 2 years old & now the fridge has stopped working but the freezer still works, I noticed several days ago that the milk in my fridge was going off very quickly & even WORSE my beer was not cold, I checked this web site & thought i may try & defrost the fridge/freezer before calling an engineer, I defrosted it for about 10 hours then switched it back on but the fridge was still not cooling down, I called an engineer out & he told me it was the compressor & changed it for me charging me £210, i asked him why he thought it was the compressor if the freezer was working ok but he told me that the freezer could be ok but the fridge would not get very cold, Its been 3 hours since he went away & the fridge still does not seem to be any colder, I called him & he told me it takes 24hrs for the temp in the fridge to get to the proper level.

I want to know if anyone thinks it could be the compressor or have i been ripped off, Is there any thing else it could be.

A quick reply would be great as im going to wait until tomorrow & if the temp has not went down im calling him back to put the old compressor back in.

From your description I would agree the compressor had failed.

Leave it overnight and see how it is in the morning, don’t keep opening the fridge door to check as it will take much longer to get cold 😉
