freezers for garages

    i was told at the local shed that my new freezer purchase had to have a SN rating if it was going into a garage. Something to do with cold temperatures Could someone enlighten me , Its the first i have heard of it

    so would you say that a chest freezer would be better suited to a garage. i am told they work in a different way

    Depends really, if you stray outside the climate class by a few degrees it’s generally okay as there is some tolerance there but if you go way out (over about 15-20{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d}) then expect trouble, even with a chest freezer.

    However if your garage is unheated I wouldn’t really recommend any refrigeration beyond a simple larder fridge for the environment and, even then, you can have problems when it gets really hot in summer as the ambient can soar.
