It was an error of unknown origin. 😕
Something about database calls, return errors or something… to be honest it descended into Engligeek speak and the will to live slowly started to seep away from my brain.
A server restart later, fixing of broken stuff and we’re all back up and firing on all cylinders, seems to have been the case from about 7-8pm.
No doubt Sudeep and Trevor will look into it and try to work out what the problem was.
This is why you do this stuff a bit at a time on something as large and complex as UKW, it sucks, but it’s the way it’s gotta be as you often don’t find stuff that doesn’t work till it’s under load from real people.
Upside is, a load of stuff was cleared or fixed.
I sorted out the engineer search Don. For now. There’s more to be done with that.
What shocked me the other week, when looking at it for DAG (don’t ask) was that in October alone there was over 1000 missed calls due to no engineer registered!
The same again went to the guys.

Still getting the odd 404, and why does the position of the forum & store links keep swapping around at the top of the new Home page. ? 🙂

Next up, the forums.
Now, Sudeep thinks we’ll get this done Tuesday night into Wednesday and it does mean that the forums will be down for a bit, hopefully not too long.
We also think but, we’re not 100{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} sure, that Tapatalk is causing the site to slow way down. That needs to be addressed, the code is ancient.
I’m not sure we’re going to put it back on as, it’s just another thing to maintain and there’s really not that many people that use it. A number, sure but the new template is very mobile friendly, light and runs quickly so I’m not convinced that there’s much of a case for Tapatalk any longer.
And, if it breaks stuff, it’s history.
Plus, it costs either in app cost or advertising which is what I think Martin (bless his socks :angry4: ) was on about the other day.
We’ll see how it goes.

One of the ‘404’s’ just appeared again.
If you login to the new HOME page then click on Forums it takes you to the full forums lists, if you then click on Forums at the top of that page you get a 404. In fact clicking on forums on any of the old pages does the same.
Try the Forums link at the top of this page.

Just a thought, the advertising box for the ‘find an engineer’ link that pops up in the middle of pages could do with editing a little. ‘Does your washing machine need repaired’ doesn’t really scan. :rolls: 😀

Update should be carried out through the night so tomorrow it’ll all look rather different.
Not much if anything in the way of new features but, a very different look.
No doubt they’ll all be confused. 😉

Just a couple of things I’m getting an error message when posting pictures
Also have to reduce screen zoom back to 75{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} otherwise adverts overlay the main menu down the right side. 75{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} is no good for my old eyes 😆

Yeah, we know about the images and Sudeep will be on that later.
Size changes for different screens so, far easier to use on mobiles and tablets.

Fine on my widescreen monitor Don, a bit bright first thing in a morning though. 😀
Overall a nice clean layout. 8) in fact 8) 8) 8) 8) need them sunglasses.
