Hello. I’m new on here but have been reading your advice avidly because we’re having our kitchen extended and refitted.

From what I’ve read on here I’m intending to get a Bosch dishwasher and a Neff oven, but I’ve heard that brands are less crucial when it comes to fridge-freezers. Is this true? What would you recommend? I’d like a 70:30 integrated model.

Bosch and Neff are, in essence, the same thing.

Fridge freezers, there’s a world of difference between what’s good and what’s not so good. But, for integrated I’d now only really recommend Liebherr, not cheap but then you don’t want to be ripping it back out in a couple of years or so.

If you can get us the dimensions needed we can suss out what models to look at.

Thanks again! Liebherr does look v. expensive. Is there really no other sort you’d recommend? Plus, might it be better not to go for integrated at all?

Integrated refrigeration is a bit of a pain or, it can be if you don’t choose wisely and install properly.

Most of what’s out there I am unimpressed with.

You start to get into the better integrated fridges, freezers and fridge freezers when the price rises but, so far as I’m concerned, nothing touches the Liebherr machines on many fronts. The quality is on a different planet from most.

As to the price, well an extra couple hundred pounds when you are spending thousands refitting a kitchen really isn’t that significant and I would think that most people would rather put in decent kit that will last as long as the kitchen if possible. The little extra on the cost of the kitchen as a whole may well achieve that, skimping may well not.

Freestanding fridge freezers I’d personally take over built in or integrated any day of the week. Less hassle, less cost, more choice and easier to replace when the time comes.
