Recently aquired an Indesit TA2, fridge/freezer type DFO1x(?)- placed said whitegood in garage as a second fridge/freezer,predominately, to store alcohol in fridge. All working great for couple of weeks, when realised that foodstuffs in top freezer gone soft! Help! When I read booklet, it mentioned something about if ‘ambient temp goes below 14c, for a period of time, then temperature needed for storage of food in freezer will not be reached!?)- i imagine the temp in the garage has over the last few days or so fallen below this ‘ambient 14c’ temp- surely, this cannot be the reason the FREEZER section has decided to warm up?
Its new, It stands on a carpet, please tell me, its not the Freezer telling itself thats its too cold and therefore will refuse to freeze as per the reason for its existance.

Usually sensing is done in fridge which needs to defrost after every cooling cycle. If the fridge never reaches defrost temp then the fridge will not switch on. If the motor is not running the freezer will also not get cold.
Very common reported symptom at this time of year.

    Simon.

Simon, many thanks for your swift reply. I have just gone out and checked the fridge on the inside for a red/orange button/switch; there is no button/switch internally in the fridge or freezer compartment, would it be located on rear externally? Also, the freezer is now working . The food in there is now solid/frozen again? Am I best to buy a heater to stand in garage, so temp doesnt drop, it will take alot of heating. I just find it strange that the freezer adapts to its environment and not just freeze regardless. Or do I just accept that during a British winter, the freezer doesnt freeze?!
