ParticipantHi,
I’ve got a 12 year old Siemens fridge freezer (a KG32U123GB). Yesterday we found some ice on the front of the freezer drawers. I thought someone had left the door open, but checked it and it seemed OK.
The same thing happened later, but again the temperature was OK.
Then, about 8pm yesterday the temperature had risen from -18 to around -6. I then hurriedly emptied the freezer, but it on ‘super cool’ and by this morning the temperature had fallen back to -18. Great.
…. except it’s now back to -7. Theories:
– Problem with the seal
– It needs defrosting, it hasn’t been done since we bought it, but it is supposed to be ‘frost free’.
– Something more serious. The fridge has remained steady at +4 the whole why through.
Any suggestions?

defrosting it completely is always a starting point but this points to a board or temp sensor problem but I may be wrong

Many thanks.
To defrost it I just need to figure out to turn the freezer off but leave the fridge on.
One other thing, last night the freezer temperature starting falling at about 9pm / 10pm, after I’d unloaded it, put on the ‘super cool’, moved it away from the wall and opened all the windows in the kitchen, as the temperature outside fell.
Tonight, I moved it away from the wall and opened all of the windows at about the same time and the temperature’s now fallen back to the normal -18 deg C. The kitchen isn’t particularly hot, but I’m wondering if the current heat is a factor, although it’s never struggled in hot weather before.

its either all off or nothing
if its a heat problem you will find the compressor working overtime and the back of the unit hot.
A fridge moves heat, it takes it from inside and get rid of it in the room. the cooler the surrounding air the easier it is
