ParticipantMy budget’s about 5 or 6 hundred quid.
70/30 fridge/freezer.
Height – 185cm is a good compromise.Maybe one of these:-
Bosch KGH36X14GB
AEG S75348KG98
Siemens KG36NA53GB
Siemens KG36VX47GB
AEG S75355KG1
AEG S70318KGSWhat do you think about these models ? Any others to consider ?
I’m not too sure about AEG as they only come with a one year warranty. The others are two years apart from the Siemens KG36NA53GB which comes with a five year warranty. Is that one a “no brainer” ?
Thanks
Steve

Yes, Siemens make decent appliances, the 5 year warranty a real bonus!

Liebherr, looks like another German brand. As far as price and spec is concerned, I think this model fits in with the other brands I’ve mentioned:-
Liebherr CUNesf3513.
Appears to come with a two year warranty. Do you think it would be a better buy than the Siemens ?
Thanks

NO NO NO not the AEG S75348KG98 !!!
After spending loads of time and money to find the right fridge my AEG broke down in 14 months and was unrepairable !!! Cost me £65 pounds to find that out as well !!!
AEG or the CURRYs didn’t want anything to do with it as it was 2 months over the 1 year guarantee period.
Most dissappointed, as on average fridges/frezers last above 5 years.
My advise keep away from AEG (no longer German product but part of AEG/Zanussi/Electrolux group who share all the same internal parts) !
Buy cheaper brands so when it fails you don’t feel so bad 🙁

Hi nayaabnet,
What was the problem? Why was it not repairable? Without knowing why it’s not possible to comment on the situation or to ascertain if it was the fault of AEG or the retailer.
Reason being, if it was incorrectly installed, damaged or whatever then the story changes somewhat.
Cheaper fridges or freezers are NOT good value and the average lifespan is in excess of eight years currently. The average brought down, much like washing machines, dishwashers and other appliances, as cheap machines break sooner and people just replace rather than repair.
Buy the right product for the right situation and use and it’ll be fine. Buy incorrectly and it won’t be, it’s that simple
