I know it’s old, and has served its time, but my plan is to remodel the kitchen at some point (not yet) and get a completely different model. In the space I have, this 54cm model is all that will fit, and is also the right height.

It has on a couple of occasions stopped working – power light and internal light are on, but no compressor noise and food melting. One time it was iced up, another time not. Each time it started working again after a period of time. It has also started to do the following – if the compressor is audible, when you open the fridge door, the compressor stops. Maybe the small amount of power going to the internal light is enough to overwhelm the motor?

Other than scrap it, any ideas for a solution please? Thanks, Bill.

Sounds as if the compressor is overheating and stalling out, no great shock given it’s at least 16 years old. 😉

And no, the light won’t affect it at all.
