ParticipantHi, my 15 years old fridge freezer is working (probably) in a strange way… It seems that it runs for about 3 hours and than rests for 3 hours (so 12h compressor time per day) but the problem is that the temperature fluctuations are big (or not?). Anyway, thermostat is at 5 oC(fridge) it starts running (compressor) at -10o C (freezer) and 10o C (fridge), and within 30′ minutes it reaches -25o C(freezer) and 7o C(fridge).
While this is ok for the fridge section, it still runs after that 30′ for another 2-3 hours, maintaining a temperature of -25o C in the freezer (too low) and bringing the fridge down to 1o C (also too low)… Then (after 3 hours) it shuts off (compressor) and the temperatures start to rise, and again within the next 3 hours temperature is rising, outside of acceptable limits (-10oC freezer is definitely too warm). It could be the de-frost system kicking-in, I guess 3 hours at -25oC is creating a lot of ice in the freezer…I would assume that the normal operation would be for the compressor to run 1 hour maybe to get the temp to say -20oC (freezer) and to 5o C fridge and than retain this for say 1 or 2 hours and than start again to work for 1 hour and so on, giving maybe a fluctuation of plus/minus 3o C…?
Sensor issues? Compressor or refrigerant maybe? Any ideas on what to check? [h=1]Fridge Freezer temperatures fluctuating[/h]

ParticipantSo…
I have the MIELE KTN4582 SDed which is similar if not the same as Liebherr 4653/4753
I have tested the temperature sensors in the fridge and freezer area and they are OK
I have tested the fans and both work fine (Freezer and Fridge dynacool)
I have measured the Def-frost element and it gave a solid 590 Ohm and the “thermal” part next to the temperature sensor was a closed circuit (0 Ohm)As stated, the problem are (in my opinion) big temperature variations
Could the de-frost element have anything to do with that?
Any older model owners, have you noticed your compressor running time? Or temperature variation?Related to another topic also here
