I have two fridge-freezers, both Candy, both with similar problems. The freezer will freeze to around -30, but the fridge stays at room temp. I’m assuming that this is due to gas loss, but any advice would be welcome.

OK, scrapped the Candys, but now have the same problem with an Indesit, model# RG2190, ser# 209202141. I thought it might be a generic fault with fridge freezers, so apologies for no serial #s.
    Any assistance is greatly appreciated,

    Hi Pauly,

No it’s not a generic failure and could be attributed to several reasons dependent upon the system employed (i.e. forced air or falling air) and how or component failure which would typically be thermostat/thermistor, PCB, compressor. There’s also the posibility of, on a forced air unit, of a fan failure, either blocked or mechanical/electrical failure. Then there’s changeover valves, a favourite.

Sorry, it’s too open a question to narrow the field for you with regard to a generic failure.

I’m not familiar with the Indesit model, but knowing Indesit it’s doubtless a lower end product, so I’d be looking for a stat, changeover valve or possible PBB/thermistor problem if it’s electronic.

    Hope that helps.

    K.
