ParticipantHi All
My Siemens KG39NA93GB Fridge Freezer, bought in 2010, has worked without issue since purchase up until about 18 months or so ago.
I noted that the items in the fridge were not cool, especially near the top of the fridge. I defrosted it overnight and on plugging it back in, it worked fine for another 12 months before repeating again. This time, I didn’t power off overnight, but instead powered off and used a hairdryer to defrost the freezer interior over around 3-4 hours until no more drips occurred. I did note that this time, I saw nothing in the rear drip tray where it was full the first time I did it. It only lasted a few weeks before the issue returned – my guess is it didn’t fully defrost somewhere beyond the freezer compartment. So I once again did a full overnight power off, the drip tray filled up etc. Powered it back on and its worked fine for around 2 months but we are back to the same issue again.
We are in a period of hot weather of course. The FF is not integrated but is surrounded by fitted cabinets. The kitchen itself is 23C at the moment but the FF is not in a sunny part, with no direct light of heat source nearby.
Despite having it a while, it seems a shame to replace when its probably a basic component – I noticed when inspecting it, there isn’t actually that much to it in terms of components.
Can anyone offer any advice what it could be? It would seem to me that the cold air isn’t being pushed up from the freezer. The freezer seems to be working fine (the products remain frozen and there is no build up of frost). I understand there is no fan as it has the grilles on the rear.
I was unable to attach some pictures so I will provide some links to help visualise the rear, as well as the only interior component I could find other than the thermometer which is about half way up the fridge section.

Thanks in advance for your help

ParticipantSlight update on looking at the parts directory on the Siemens website. Despite having a grille on the rear, which most other sites I have looked at have said it wouldn’t then have a fan, there is a fan. Part 0301: https://www.siemens-home.bsh-group.com/uk/supportdetail/product/KG39NA93GB/05#/Tabs=section-spareparts/
Logically, it would make sense that this was the root cause. The freezer seems fine but the cold air isn’t being pushed up through the vent channels.
I have bit the bullet and paid for a Siemens engineer visit on Wednesday as we need it sorting. If anyone has any advice that might save me the cost of that visit, I would be grateful. I am not looking to replace internal components but happy to replace those externally accessible.

ParticipantFor anyone else interested in this post, the engineer visited today and confirmed he was getting no electrical feedback from the fan. This is going to be replaced next week.
