My Prestige self defrosting, under the counter larder fridge Model PRT 130LS runs almost continually. It stops when I turn the dial to just below 1. Set at 1 it is running most of the time and the temp inside is 6C. Set at 3 it runs continuously and the the temp goes down to 3 or 4C, and frost forms on the top 6 inches inside the rear wall.
The motor has become noisier. I am surprised the cabinet does not get much colder as the motor is running the whole time.
The fridge is only just 4 years old and used to be very quiet and hardly ever running.
I thought to replace the thermostat but I am not sure that that is the (only) problem added to which I have been unable to source one without ordering 5000 of them from China!
Thermostat code is WDF 30K-921-028 (EG) 0702.0009192-2 5(4)A250V 50/60HZ JIUJING HENGTONG AUTOCONTROL DEVICE CO LTD

    Can anyone help?

    Re: Fridge motor runs continually

Being a larder fridge the system runs by bringing the temperature down to what ever you have set it at – lets say +2C and then switching off and carrying out a defrost. Then restarting and so the cycle continues. If however the appliance is short of refrigerant or the compressor is failing the unit will never reach its required temperature and will run continuously causing frosting to the back. Whilst you may have a faulty thermostat, the most likely faults are the aforementioned. You really need a fridge engineer out to take a look 🙁

Thanks very much for getting back to me so quickly.
Not exactly the news I wanted to hear but better to know what the score is.
