My old fridge (20 years) switches on for 4 seconds every 2 minutes, so it is nearly at room temp. Is this the end? Time to buy a new one?Or something I can fix?

Switches on for four seconds the you hear a click and it cuts out again ?

If that is the case it’s almost certainly the compressor failing.

New fridge time, but hey, 20 years is an excellent lifespan 😀

Yes, clicks on for 4 seconds and then clicks off again. Thanks, Dave, for the quick reply. Time to go shopping I guess. 🙁

I suspect a seized compressor causing thermal overload to operate. Considering its 20yrs old I would imagine a compressor change and a “drop in” gas change would be un ecenomical.
