Keymastercan anybody please help me i have a HOTPOINT MISTRAL FRIDGE FREEZER MODEL NO IS FF91P
freezer is working perfect but the fridge is not getting cold,
i have 2 air vents at the top which have a tube which goes to the freezer compartment (they are not blocked by the way) when u close the fridge door it starts a fan in the freezer compartment which i think should send up the cold air to the top of the fridge but it dosn’t.
does anybody have any idears please.July 25, 2005 at 9:25 pm #143177Dave_Conway

Check at the back of the freezer behind the rear panel (inside) for over-icing.
It sounds like the air ducts are blocked with ice restricting the air flow to the fridge.
If it is, a total defrost may solve it as the recent hot weather/accidentadoor left open can cause this. If it doesn’t solve it or it happens again within a short time then there is ununderlying cause which may require an engineer (check repairs@) for further investigation.
Power off if you go in and check please :zap:

thax for the info Dave i have checked the air vents for any ice and they are clear (i put a wire all the way down the tubes and they are clear),
i have flicked the the light switch to make the fan in the freezer turn on but no cold air seems to come up the vents.is the fan in the freezer the only way the fridge gets the cold air? or is there another fan inside the back of the fridge freezer to suck up the air into the air ducts?
kind regardsJuly 25, 2005 at 10:24 pm #143179Dave_Conway

Nope, it’s just the fan.
In that case, check the baffle unit. It’s sort of a thermal flap (motorised) that opens and closes as the temp drops and rises to allow more/lees cold air to enter the fridge compartment. It’s probaly permanently closed 😉

is this the flap on the left hand side(when u take the light fitting off ) because i have done that (taken the fittings away from the air vent) and pushed the light switch to make the fan inside the freezer start but no air flow from eighther air ducts.
kind regards and thanx for your inputJuly 26, 2005 at 7:21 am #143181Dave_Conway

In that case, please refer back to the first line of my original reply, there’s too much ice in the freezer by the sound of it…
