Hi, i cant get my head round this problem, i have a AEG single fridge, its the type that has the back wall that gets cold and defrosts straight down to the centre hole back to the compressor. all looks to be ok because the wall has frozen droplets on it and later they have gone or new ones in a different place so it seems to be cycling ok on the thermostat. the odd part is that the temperature is 12deg. this is as sold as it will go. the stat is turned in the right direction as i can stop the compressor by turning it the other way. I thought perhaps the door was not closing but that’s ok. how can the temp be so high when the fridge is happily freezing the back on and off. the milk does feel cold ish but both my thermostats i have put in show around 12. Any ideas what going on? thanks chaps. Ps its a second hand unit i bought for my parents located high in a unit as they cant bend down any more, seems plenty of ventilation too.Frazer

Hi again, i have put a new cheap thermostat in and its the same, i did some experimenting… there is a tube to push the tail of the thermostat down that leads in the direction of the back, it starts at the front where the stst is located and runs inside just below the surface. When its pushed all the way in the fridge will only go down to 12 but as i pull it slowly out ( testing over several hours) the temp drops down. if i remove the tail from the tube completely and have the tail just hanging inside the fridge, the fridge runs continuously and the temp drops down to -1. so full in 12deg, full out -1 and this is on both stats, new and old. any ideas? thanks Frazer
