Fridge thinks it’s a freezer

I know nothing about fridges,but a local bar owner has called me saying his fridge is freezing everything he puts into it.
The only information I have is that it is a eurotech and is set on the lowest setting but will freeze anything.
He also states that the compressor is very hot to the touch,almost unbearable.
I know the information I have is sketchy,but would like to have some idea as what could be the problem.

Sounds like a faulty thermostat.
