    Hello everyone!

I was wondering if anyone has any experience with side-by-side fridge-freezers?

My fridge is currently not cooling, but the freezer is working fine.

As I understand it the cold air in the freezer is extracted and circulated into the fridge for cooling.

I have taken the fridge-freezer apart and have cleaned all of the dust out etc. The external fan for air intake, the fan in the freezer and the fan in the fridge (which looks like is there purely to circulate the cool air inside) are all working. However the ducts in the fridge are not drawing any air through into the fridge despite this.

I couldn’t upload the pictures as it was over my quota or something, sorry!

Any chance someone has seen this before and knows what the problem might be? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks!

the ducts can get iced up

first with this type of fault is to do a total defrost. power off. doors open for 2 days

you have 2 ducts into the fridge. one takes air in and the other returns it. if either is blocked it wont cool but the freezer will still work ok

    Hello Dave,

Thanks for the reply. I did do a defrost for a day. It is a nodefrost fridge-freezer so there wasn’t any visible build up of ice.

I haven’t got much else to try however so I have unplugged it again and will defrost it longer… I found a small access hatch that views the cooling coils behind the freezer from the inside of the the fridge and there was a very light frosting on the coils so I will try again and wait until they are totally defrosted but I think it is probably some other cause…

you have 2 ducts, air in and air out. either one iced up and it stops working. large ice build up can take longer than a day to melt
