Fridgemaster Fridge freezer

I have a fridgmaster fridge freezer the compressor only runs when the thermostat is switched up to 7 but stays on all the time. If i switch the thermostat down the compressor doesn’t come on at all. Used to have it set at 3. Any ideas what the problem could be?

Should have said the model number is MTRF226A

When the unit is set to 7 does the fridge get cold??

Yeah the fridge kicks into life but it frosts up at the back and as soon as I turn the dial down even to 6 the motor stops and doesn’t come back on again unless I turn it back up to 7.

OK these chinese thermostats are abit weird in that if you turn them right up they act ask if you have switched them to fast freeze. Assuming from what you say that your unit is cooling its probably the thermostat that is faulty. If you can get it out to look at it (power off please) and let me have the wd number on the side of the thermostat we should be able to help you out. The genuine Fridgemaster part number is 140131 which you can source from our shop on this website if you are in a hurry.
