    Hello,

My Frigidaire 2422A is icing up on the back and the compressor running all the time.
So, after checking the discharge hole on the back and finding nothing, went to replace the Thermostat as most probable cause of the icing.

Looks like Frigidaire themselves don’t have the part in stop. So decided to dig into Thermostat science
The original fitted thermostat is WDF25K-921 manufactured by jiujang autocontrol. According to the website, it is a K59 equivalent with cut in 3.5 and cut off -15 and -25. Close enough to a standard K59 VT9…. i thought

And so, today got a Ranco K59 VT9 and fitted it in. No luck… still icing up, compressor running all the time. Knob on “1” position…..

    What am I doing wrong?
Should I fit a VXO instead?

(To be honest, -15 seems a very low temperature to cut off in a fridge where the thermostat capilarity is attached to the back wall)

    Hi

Did you wire the new thermostat correctly ?

How old is the fridge / freezer ?

Yes, I did some effort to correctly wire it (actually got it wrong first time).
    Connector
    6 – input power
3 – wire to the lamp
4 – wire to the compressor
Checked the wires by the C L H letters in the old therm

The fridge is around 5 years old.

    Thank you very much

and, when turning the knob to 0 position, the compressor and lamp go off as expected

    Re: Frigidaire 2422A Thermostat

could it be that the compressor is loosing refrigerant and unable to lower temperature enough to switch off the thermostat, but still enough to ice up and freeze some food?
